Draw Together: Realistic People/Figure Drawing
What's included
1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
US Grade 4 - 7
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class is for kids who want to practice drawing realistic-looking humans, in an array of interesting poses! Each week we'll draw a full person, step-by-step together. We'll use reference photos (all kinds of people, doing all kinds of different things) to guide our sketches. Students follow along (but may add their own changes or details!), and we pause frequently so that each student can receive individual feedback. We will practice skills such as: - drawing proportionate (realistic) figures, - showing "movement"/action, - adding clothing & accessories, - drawing hair and faces, - shading (as time allows). Our reference photos will show an array of different poses, cultures, activities, ethnicities, body types. My goal is not only to teach students how to draw a particular person or pose, but to help them practice observational drawing skills that will allow them to draw anything they want! Lessons are interactive and I welcome student participation and suggestions! Here are our upcoming subjects: *********************************************************** Class looks too advanced? Other Details
Parental Guidance
We will be using photographs of people as references. Photographs will depict a diverse range of body types, and respect for all models is expected. There will be NO nudity, however some figures may be clothed in leotards, gym shorts, or similar. Please feel free to address concerns with me beforehand, and I will take your student's needs into consideration.
Pre-Requisites
No prerequisites are required, however: I recommend my beginner class for youngest students ("Drawing Realistic People & Characters - for Beginners)". Students who have some practice sketching will be most comfortable in this class.
Supply List
The only supplies needed are: - sketch paper (or sketch book) - pencil (any!) - eraser (**OR an electronic drawing tablet) If you would like to add additional media, such as ink, marker, colored pencils, etc.-- please feel free!

Figure drawing is my favorite art form! I have years of experience creating my own drawings and sculptures, using the human form as inspiration, and I always brought my enjoyment and expertise to my students when we created figurative artworks. I have taught figure drawing to elementary, junior high, and high school age students for two decades now, and look forward to meeting more young artists who want to learn this skill!
