Beginner Level
Each week of "Draw Together" is a miniature drawing workshop. Learners follow along as I demonstrate how to draw a new animal in each class, using photographs as inspiration. We will practice drawing from observation (making our drawings look similar to the reference photo) and including a background. Students are encouraged to add color, shading, and creative details as desired. My goal is not only to teach students how to draw a particular animal, but to help them practice the skills they need to draw anything they want! Here are our upcoming subjects: MONDAY class: April 7: Red panda! April 14: Megalodon! April 21: Red wolf! April 28: Dodo bird! TUESDAY class: April 1: Eagle owl! April 8: White tiger! April 15: T-rex! April 22: Florida panther! April 29: Ankylosaurus! WEDNESDAY (AM) class: April 2: Piping plover (bird)! April 9: Orca/Killer Whale! April 16: Jaguar! April 23: Spider monkey! April 30: Panda! WEDNESDAY (PM) class: April 2: Tasmanian tiger! April 9: Whale shark! April 16: Sabre-tooth tiger! April 23: Black tiger! April 30: Dolphin! THURSDAY class: May 1: Tasmanian devil! May 8: Koala! May 15: Arctic fox! May 22: Loon (bird)! May 29: NO CLASS!!! FRIDAY class: May 2: Golden pheasant! May 9: Black fox (a.k.a. silver fox)! May 16: Horse! May 23: Capybara! May 30: NO CLASS!!! Lessons are interactive and I welcome student participation! Students are also invited to suggest what animals they would like to draw in upcoming lessons. Learning Goals
Have fun drawing animals and practice observational (realistic) drawing.Create backgrounds that illustrate depth (three-dimensional space), and practice adding details such as texture or shading.Other Details
Pre-Requisites
No prerequisite classes are required; this is a class for beginners. Students will be instructed to begin their drawings with simple shapes such as ovals and rectangles (perfection not required!). The key is to "keep moving"!
Supply List
Students will need the following materials each week: Drawing paper Pencil & eraser **Optional materials (these are entirely dependent on your student's preference, and are not required): - Colored pencils - Crayons - Markers - Digital drawing tablet - Other media of your choice!
