US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class is for learners who want to practice drawing animals, and making them look more realistic! Each week we use photo references to practice the skills of realistic drawing, shading, texture, and backgrounds. I demonstrate step-by-step how to draw a new animal each week, giving individual feedback along the way. My goal is not only to teach students how to draw a particular animal, but to help them practice the skills they need to draw anything they want! Students are encouraged to use their creativity to add or change details, as well as adding finishing touches (outline? color? shade? background? more characters? it's up to you!). Here are our upcoming subjects: MONDAY class: Nov. 4: Mandarin duck & duckling! Nov. 11: Dog (golden doodle)! Nov. 18: White-tailed deer! Nov. 25: Bald eagle! FRIDAY class: Nov. 1: Arctic fox! Nov. 8: Golden tabby tiger! Nov. 15: Snowy owl! Nov. 22: Black-footed ferret! Nov. 29: NO CLASS (Thanksgiving holiday) Lessons are interactive and I welcome student participation! I have taught drawing for many years, and in my observation the most effective way to teach good drawing skills is to demonstrate them. Drawing together with my students gives me the perfect forum to illustrate drawing techniques while helping them to build the critical thinking and observational skills they need to continue working on their own. My goal is to build my students' skills and confidence as young artists!
