Class Experience

In this one-time drawing class learners will draw a realistic ice cream cone with emphasis on seeing value (light and dark) and texture. Students will learn different techniques to hold their pencil and getting correct proportion and texture. Even though there is a lot of instruction I like to keep the class open to conversation and questions during the whole class time. Students are able to show their drawings multiple times throughout the drawing process to receive feedback and individualized instruction on their work. Prior drawing classes are not required. Learners can come with whatever experience they have had and jump in to draw with lots of instruction and encouragement. At the end of class, we will talk about signing their artwork in the way they want it represented. :)

Paper, pencils, and an eraser. I use a kneaded eraser and art pencils and highly recommend both but regular pencils and erasers can be used in a pinch. :)

Hello! I am BriAnn Ongesel. I have taught online classes for over 7 years and over 2 years here on Outschool. I teach art classes to ages 5-17.

I have my bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Brigham Young University Idaho. I also studied UX/UI design from California Institute of the Arts. I am currently a freelance designer, online teacher, and mother of four.

I believe that the best learning comes from doing. Students learn from practicing the principles taught and from sharing what they learn with their peers. It is important to have fun in my classes, as well as talking with other students about class concepts and similar interests. Learning is about chasing what excites you and diving into all you can with it.

My hobbies include reading, drawing, and baking. I love good food - including 'nicecream', butternut squash, and cheesecake.
