Mastering the past tense of french verbs that use être is essential and requires practice and repetition. We open with a song, an explanation about the day's lesson, practice pronunciation, and then kids write (depending on age) and draw!

This class is taught in English.
October 30, Saturday: class one/ week one: 1) We listen and sing along to the "être" song. 2) The students are introduced to a list of movement and reflexive verbs. Then the teacher picks one verb:"arriver." 3) The students review the conjugation for arriver with each pronoun. 4) A sample sentence is introduced, explained and the practiced by each student. 5) The students are encouraged to then draw a picture of the scene that the sentence represents. 6) When the student is done drawing and shares their art with the class they are encouraged to say the french sentence again, as they proceed to describe their picture. Time permitting: another french sentence is introduced using the verb "arriver" in the passé composé, except this time with a different pronoun: and so on. Each parent will receive a link for this week's Quizlet lesson. Repeat structure throughout successive weeks with (but not limited to) the following new verbs: Week 5: retourner, week 6, descendre, week 7 etc.
Homework can be done in the form of using the online app Quizlet.com just 3 times a week for 5 minutes each session. Short and simple.
Paper and crayons or markers. Please note that pencil drawings are very difficult to see on zoom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This is an ongoing class, so children in the class can remain in the class for as long as it takes to memorize the verb conjugation using "être." Parents can see progress in their children by simply using the Quizlet app, and the teacher can assess programs through simple questioning in class.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
