Class Experience

In this one-time art class, students will follow a step-by-step live demonstration in order to draw some cute dogs and puppies. I will use two cameras so that the students will be able to see me as well as a close-up of the live drawing demonstration. I will be drawing on paper and students will be able to watch me draw through my document camera.

We will draw two dogs during this class. We will begin by using simple shapes and lines, and then we will add the details. Students will be shown different options for the details of the dogs. They will get to choose the ears, tails, body shape, and fur texture for their drawings. They will also be shown different ways to draw the details of the face.

In order to help students customize their art, I will provide a printable PDF guide that contains 25 basic templates for 30+ different dog breeds. If your child wants to draw a specific breed of dog, this guide may be helpful! Students do not HAVE to bring this template to class, but it may be beneficial for them to have it with them. They may also choose to preview the guide before class so that they have ideas in mind.

If there is time, students may begin coloring in class, but they may need to color after class.

The atmosphere of this class will be relaxed, positive, and fun. Creativity and imagination will always be encouraged. I believe that everyone’s drawing style is unique, so students are always welcome to add their own special touches to their artwork. At the end of the lesson, students will have the opportunity to show and share their art, but this will not be required.

The class structure will be as follows:
1) We’ll say hello and go over some brief classroom expectations.
2) We’ll sketch two dogs in a step-by-step fashion.
3) Time permitting, we’ll color and outline our sketches.
4) Students will have the option to show and share their art.
5) We’ll say our goodbyes!

Students are encouraged to raise their hands and ask for help if needed. I will do my best to ensure that students are caught up and ready to move on to the next step, but I also must ensure that we proceed with the lesson in a timely manner. Keep in mind that the class recording will be available after the lesson has ended, so students can go back and watch the demonstration again if needed.

Prior drawing experience is helpful but not required for this class.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

I look forward to drawing with you!

Hello!

Welcome to my Outschool teacher page! My name is Alissa Agostini, and I live in Milwaukee, USA. I have been teaching online since 2017, and so far, I’ve taught over 7000 online reading and English classes. Before that, I taught in the classroom as a middle school language arts and literature teacher. In my eight years of teaching experience, I’ve worked with large classes, I’ve worked in one-on-one tutoring sessions, and I’ve worked with students of all ages, from 4 up to 16. No matter who I am teaching or where I am teaching, I strive to create a positive, encouraging, and welcoming atmosphere. I always teach with kindness, energy, and enthusiasm. My goal is to teach in a way that promotes a lifelong love of learning.

In my previous traditional teaching experiences, I realized that students do not always have the opportunity to explore their passions and interests, so I joined Outschool, and I set out to create lessons about a variety of topics about which I myself am passionate. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, so I combined my research and writing skills with my love for art to create vibrant ebooks that I use for my lessons. My lessons give students the opportunity to explore interests while learning new facts and practicing valuable skills. Additionally, many of my lessons incorporate coloring, drawing, or creative writing.

So far, I have created a series of classes about cute wild animals (I’ve always been a huge animal lover!), but I am in the process of writing more lessons about additional topics. If your learner just wants some time to relax and get creative, I also offer step-by-step drawing classes. Check back soon for more class offerings!

Thank you for checking out my teacher profile. I can’t wait to meet your learner in my Outschool classroom! Have a lovely day!
