50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one-time art class, students will follow a live step-by-step demonstration in order to draw some cats in a kawaii art style. I will use two cameras so that the students will be able to see me as well as a close-up of the live drawing demonstration. We will begin by using simple shapes and lines to draw the cats, and then we will add in the details. Students will be shown different options to customize the details of their cats including variations in tail shape, facial expressions, and more! We will draw at least two cats, but if time allows, I may lead the students through additional cat drawings. There also may be some time for students to color their drawings, but they may need to finish coloring after class. Please note that the number of cats we draw will depend on the skill level and work pace of the class. The amount of coloring time will also depend on these factors. The atmosphere of this class will be relaxed, positive, and supportive. Creativity and imagination will always be encouraged. Everyone’s drawing style is unique, so students are always welcome to add their own special touches to their artwork! At the end of the class, students will have the option to show and share their art on camera, but this will not be required. Class structure will be as follows: 1) We’ll greet each other and briefly go over some classroom expectations. 2) We’ll draw two (or more) cats in a step-by-step fashion. 3) Time permitting, we’ll color our drawings and chat. 4) Students will have the option to show and share their art. 5) We’ll say our goodbyes! Please note that I will do my best to ensure that students are caught up and ready to move on to the next step, but I also must ensure that we proceed with the lesson in a timely manner. Keep in mind that the class recording will be available after the lesson has ended, so students can go back and watch the demonstration again if needed. I will also provide a downloadable printout on the classroom tab with some illustrations of cats. Students do not need to bring this printout to class; It’s just an optional bonus activity! Students may color these illustrations after class, or use these illustrations as a reference, so that they can continue to practice their drawing skills. Prior drawing experience is helpful but not required for this class. Students should feel comfortable drawing simple shapes like circles, triangles, and ovals. I can't wait to draw with you! See you soon!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
Welcome to my Outschool teacher page! My name is Alissa Agostini, and I live in Milwaukee, USA. I have been teaching online since 2017, and so far, I’ve taught over 7000 online reading and English classes. Before that, I taught in the classroom as a middle school language arts and literature teacher. In my eight years of teaching experience, I’ve worked with large classes, I’ve worked in one-on-one tutoring sessions, and I’ve worked with students of all ages, from 4 up to 16. No matter who I am teaching or where I am teaching, I strive to create a positive, encouraging, and welcoming atmosphere. I always teach with kindness, energy, and enthusiasm. My goal is to teach in a way that promotes a lifelong love of learning.
In my previous traditional teaching experiences, I realized that students do not always have the opportunity to explore their passions and interests, so I joined Outschool, and I set out to create lessons about a variety of topics about which I myself am passionate. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, so I combined my research and writing skills with my love for art to create vibrant ebooks that I use for my lessons. My lessons give students the opportunity to explore interests while learning new facts and practicing valuable skills. Additionally, many of my lessons incorporate coloring, drawing, or creative writing.
So far, I have created a series of classes about cute wild animals (I’ve always been a huge animal lover!), but I am in the process of writing more lessons about additional topics. If your learner just wants some time to relax and get creative, I also offer step-by-step drawing classes. Check back soon for more class offerings!
Thank you for checking out my teacher profile. I can’t wait to meet your learner in my Outschool classroom! Have a lovely day!
-Ms. Alissa
