The world of sea animals is vast and exciting. Why not delve into anatomy and behavior through detailed drawings and discussions? At the beginning of the class, Students will be asked to share some key facts about the creature that will be drawn. Students will be allowed to jot or doodle what they have learned using a variety of tools. Next up, I will guide students through each step as they sketch their animals, however, students are allowed to use their imaginations when creating their compositions, etc. Students will be able to explore shading, color, and composition. Students will be allowed to give positive criticisms about each other's work. During class, we will also discuss a few interesting facts about these animals. Here is the tentative schedule for the next 4 weeks Week of October 9th: Sperm whale &Shading techniques October 16th: Humpback whale& shading techniques October 23rd: Large Sized Bowhead whale& shading techniques October 30th: Seal& watercolor techniques Week of November 6th: Goblin Shark& Drawing techniques on the negative space November 13th: Hammerhead Shark & Drawing techniques on the negative space November 20th: Tiger Shark in colors& color techniques November 27th: Dwarf Lantern Shark & Drawing techniques on the negative space Week of December 4th: Blue-ringed Octopuses& negative space(placement) December 11th: Nautilus & Shading techniques December 18th: Squid & Color techniques December 25th: TBA Week of January 1: Green turtle& adding value-blending techniques January 8: Snapping Turtles &blending techniques January 15: Pig nose Turtle& negative space January 22: Hawksbill turtle&negative space February 5th: Pygmy Seahorse& repetition & patterns February 12th: Dragon Seahorse& color composition February 19th:Regular Sea-horse February 26th: March 12th: Wobbegong March 19th:thresher shark March 26th: basking shark April 2nd: saw shark April 9th: Green Basilisk April 16th:Gecko April 23rd: We will sketch animals like turtles, sea horses, jellyfish, long-nosed chimeras, sea lions, iguanas, chameleons, and lizards. Lesson structure: 0:00-5:00 min- Introduction to the topic and discussion of key facts about the animal we are drawing. 5:00-20:00min- Begin drawing the sea animal, focusing on a different drawing technique each week 20:00-23:00 min-Comments, feedback on drawings. 23:00-38:00 min- Shading of the sea-animal 38:00-41:00 min- Trivia Fun, Feedback on drawings 41:00-48:00 min-Creation of background and adding color. My office hours are usually at 9pm in the evening, and I usually respond within 1 to 2 business days. However I do my best to respond as soon as possible.
Learning Goals
Students are going to learn some elements of drawing including, tone, texture, shape and form.
