55 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Each class is independent and is for beginning and beginning-intermediate student artists. They will meet 1 time per week for 8 weeks. The class will be interactive between myself and the students. I use visual examples that I made, in a slide show, showing step-by-step how to draw each animal baby. I don’t make my examples perfect because I want the students to see that even teachers aren’t perfect. I show them where and how I fixed mistakes so that they can see how I learned from those mistakes. Each class will have it's own slide show beginning with an example of what the final drawing for that class will look like, then it will have pictures of how to fold the paper to create class specific drawing guide-lines. I really like to interact with the students as much as possible and I will continuously check on the students’ for remaining on task and following along with the steps, offering praise, encouragement and suggestions along the way. Once their papers are folded properly for the specific animal, we will begin drawing, again step-by-step, following along with the pictures in the slide show. I will continue to check student work, offering individual comments as we go along. Throughout each class, students will learn drawing basics including light sketching and beginning shading. At the end of each class, when the drawing is completed, the students will be able to color their drawings as they would like to. For every class, I will supply a handout with several different types of eyes for them to work with, as eyes are difficult and a handheld visual guide may be easier than a computer screen. The eight lessons will be given in the following order: kitten, puppy, bunny. lion cub, fawn, kit (baby fox), chicks, and koala. Each class has a different artistic focus, such as shading or sketching or perspective, and the concepts can be used in other drawings or not.
Learning Goals
Students will learn drawing basics, such as beginning shading in black and white and color, placement on the page, perspective, and ratio.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have experience teaching all subjects at all grade levels because I have a current credential in multiple subjects, specializing in mild/moderate special education, with over 10 years of experience in the classroom, offering SAI as well as instruction to students in the general classroom. Although I teach all students, I focus on students with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. I help children stay current with their school work in English Language Arts (ELA) or Math (especially Algebra). In ELA, I know how to teach tactics and strategies for writing single paragraphs and multiple paragraph essays, including developing the ideas for their writing. I am passionate about grammar and have strong research skills. These research skills also help in Science and Social Studies. In Algebra, I have successfully taught the full range of concepts to many students with various levels of math skills, even those who say "I can't do math." I have worked with students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Several of my seniors, who were considered incapable of graduating, did receive their diploma, and a few even went on to a community college. I believe that all students can learn, and it is my mission to teach as many as I can.
As for me, I am working on my doctorate in special education because I love to learn. My classes are on-line, so I know what it’s like to be a virtual learner. I also love to paint and draw. I just painted a mermaid and a drummer (no, not together – lol!) I also really enjoy walking on the beach and collecting shells and drift-wood. I live in San Diego, which is, in my opinion, the most beautiful city in the world. I have a tiny little apartment in North San Diego where I work and play.
