Draw Animals With Pencils (Ages 12-17)

Students will draw with pencil (art pencils preferred).  This course is beginner friendly!!  We will cover the basics of how to use different pencils for different values, and how to really draw the shapes and lines in the pictures we draw.  With each drawing we will go over art elements and vocabulary (line, shape, color, value, form, texture, and space).  The remainder of the class will be working through the drawing process: sketching, adjusting porportions, assessing light and shadow, and using shadows to create form.  Students will be encouraged to ask questions and talk to each other as long as they continue working on their drawings. I encourage (not require) every student to show their work and ask questions multiple times throughout class. Even though we are learning technical skills, I love to make it personal for each learner and encourage their insights and questions.  Overall, I love to keep things light and relaxing.
