Thank you for checking out my class! My animal drawing club for beginners is the perfect way for young artists to develop their drawing skills and learn how to sketch animals in a realistic style. This engaging drawing class is ideal for beginners and helps children improve their artistic abilities while drawing animals in their natural habitats. Why Choose My Animal Drawing Club? I, Mr. Andy, will guide your child as they explore the exciting world of animal drawing. Every week, I focus on a different animal, and students will learn to draw that animal using basic shapes and simple techniques. What’s Included in the Class? Step-by-Step Animal Drawing: Each class begins with sketching the animal using a drawing pencil and eraser. I will walk students through the process, showing how to break down complex animals into simple shapes like circles, ovals, and squares. Creating Backgrounds: After the animal sketch is completed, students will learn to draw a background that matches the animal’s natural habitat, enhancing the realism of their artwork. Coloring and Detailing: Once the sketch is done, we’ll bring the animal and scene to life by coloring them in using colored pencils (or markers), adding depth and texture. Showcase Time: At the end of each class, students may proudly showcase their completed drawings to the group (if they wish to do so)! How My Online Drawing Class Works Interactive Online Sessions: My classes are taught via Zoom, where I use two cameras—one focusing on my face and the other on my drawing pad. This setup ensures students can follow along easily and learn the drawing techniques. Step-by-Step Guidance: Each class is taught step-by-step, with me drawing along and explaining every move. Students can draw alongside me, following my instructions in real time. Personalized Feedback: Throughout the class, I pause regularly to check in with students, offering feedback and encouragement. If a student needs help or has a question, I am always ready to assist, ensuring no one gets left behind. Positive, Relaxed Environment: My teaching style is fun, supportive, and relaxed, allowing students to feel confident as they develop their artistic skills. Class Details Weekly Sessions: This is a weekly class, and each session focuses on drawing a different animal. (See the list of animals I'll draw in the upcoming weeks below.) Suitable for Beginners: Whether your child is a complete beginner or has some drawing experience, this class is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels. Attendance: The class will begin on time. In order to create a smooth class for my students, I will have to continue forward if a learner arrives late. All of my classes are recorded. If a learner arrives late to the class, I will encourage them to watch the recording after class to catch up on anything they may have missed. Please note: Each student draws at their own pace. Due to this, they may not finish the drawing in the time we have for the class. However, students will learn valuable techniques they can apply on their own. No prior knowledge or experience is required. Since this is an ongoing class, students can stop attending at any time. I’m a professional artist with over 12 years of experience in drawing and painting. I’ve been teaching art since 2021, and my classes are designed to help students of all skill levels feel confident and creative. Learning Goals
I want my students to develop their drawing skills and show them sketching and shading techniques that can help them in future drawings they do in their own.
I teach them to think of what we draw in a simple way. Going step by step we “build” the animal we are drawing using simple and familiar shapes such as ovals and triangles.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I’m a fine artist working out of my home studio in South Carolina. I have been a fine artist since 2013 and an art teacher since 2021.
I specialize in watercolors, colored pencils, alcohol and Posca acrylic markers as well as
acrylic paints. I greatly enjoy painting and drawing realistic animals, landscapes and
cityscapes. I also make pet portraits in my own artistic style. I love drawing all kinds of wildlife such as cats, dogs, lions, whales, dolphins and more in their natural habitats. Everyday I discover new animals to draw and paint and I love sharing these with my students.
I love teaching and sharing what I have learned with others about drawing, painting, sketching and animal anatomy.
In 2023 I started teaching art classes on Outschool to children and teens. Teaching has helped me learn how to explain art concepts to my students as well as improve my own art skills.
I enjoy using vibrant, rich colors that may not be natural to the
subject, but give it an interesting and striking appearance. I like to
highlight the main subject with light and shadow giving it form and
depth.
When creating my artwork, I start with choosing the person or
animal I want to draw. I then either browse photography websites until I
find a reference photo I really like or I draw from my imagination. From
there I work on coming up with a composition and color scheme.
I am constantly working towards improving my craft and
furthering my skills as a fine artist. By doing this, I can improve my work
and better educate my art students.
Reviews:
"My daughter loves this class! And I love seeing her animal drawing after. Last week was an otter floating on its back and it was so adorable. This is greatfor any kiddo who wants to learn drawing techniques and drawing animals from a very patient and engaging teacher." April T.
"My daughter is 12 years old, likes to doodle and loves animals. She had a wonderful session with Andy. He is calm and his instructions were very easy to follow. He provided feedback to her as the class progressed. She drew a clownfish with him and it is one of the best drawings that she has ever created." Jessica W.
