Class Experience

In each class, we will create a new directed drawing picture together. Your child will work on following directions to create artwork. Each directed drawing will be a new animal. We will draw pets, ocean animals, farm animals and more! After drawing, we will add in some literacy skills by writing vocabulary words and/or writing a sentence about the animal. Depending on your child's level, he or she could write with teacher guidance, "Dogs can run." or "Dogs are awesome animals!" If time permits, we will share our drawings with one another and make/share connections we have to the animal or object we draw.

The directed drawings in this drawing class will be simple, easy to follow pictures for any beginning artist and beginning reader who loves animals. No prior knowledge is required. This drawing class will be perfect for learning sentence writing, following directions and socializing.

I will teach this drawing and sentence writing through direct instruction, modeling, questioning, and discussion. My teaching style is energetic and engaging while providing clear instructions and expectations.

We will draw a different animal each class, and you can jump in anytime! Listed below are the weeks we will draw certain animals.

Join me in this drawing class to work on phonics skills, learn spelling and new vocabulary, practice sentence writing all while having fun by coloring and drawing animals!
