This class is an intensive, camp version of my All About Flowers class. No prior experience is required, however if you have taken All About Flowers, this class will give you the opportunity to grow your ability to draw and paint flowers. We will learn about different flowers and the basic shapes that make them unique. Each day, we will study a floral still life, and make it our own using expressive drawing and painting techniques. Before class, please share and even upload photos of your favorite flowers, or one flower in particular that you would like to learn to draw and paint. Artists participation and feedback will help the teacher direct the lessons. Want to paint roses? Peonies? Daisies? Tell us in the Classroom! Each day, enrolled artists are expected to participate by sharing their art work for encouragement from the teacher and other learners. During the lesson, artists can bounce ideas off each other and aske questions about color, compositon, and color choices while following the teacher's directions. Artists will be encouraged to practice what they learn in a sketchbook, and to share those ideas and sketches in the Classroom. Collaboration is so important in increasing creativity! Each day is a live video chat lesson with step-by-step instruction: Before the Session begins: tell us what your favorite flowers are, and upload photos to the Classroom Day1: Learn to draw flowers using line and value, with a variety of pens After class: share what you learned and upload a photo of your artwork to the classroom Day2: Watercolor flowers, artists will first learn some basic watercolor techniques, and then use your knowledge of flower shapes and translate that into a beautiful watercolor bouquet. Teacher expertise and credentials
Arizona Teaching Certificate
Doctoral Degree from Chapman University School of Law
Hello! I can't wait to learn and share with you! I have a bachelors degree in history, a doctorate in law, and certifications in photography and therepeudic art . I love learning, and teaching others.
I am a mom to 5 amazing kids, ages 17, 15, 14, 11, and 9. I've taught art classes for over 25 years and have worked with all ages. I am excited to reach out to even more students on this Outschool. I believe with Pablo Picasso that, "Every child is an artist." And my goal as an art teacher is to make sure we all have the desire and confidence to keep being creative and enjoy a life full of learning. Because just as Picasso said, "The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
I homeschool my 3 youngest children for several years, and now all 5 are home with me. I love teaching them art and history. I love using my passion for history to teach how the events of our past have shaped our future.
When I am not teaching, our family travels. I love to travel to see the original art I study and teach about, and the geography that has inspired artists and influenced our history.
