In this one-time class, students will draw a heart shape with a symmetrical design of directional lines, trace with a Sharpie, and color or paint the shapes to make it look like a gemstone.

Description
Class Experience
Through the guided drawing process, students will learn the simple technique for creating a drawing that ends up looking like a heart-shaped jewel or gemstone. We will draw or trace a heart (template will be provided to download and print shortly before class starts if the student needs it), then locate points do draw dots from which lines will be drawn to give the appearance of a faceted jewel. As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
