Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an artist and photographer specializing in fine art, photography, and art education. I am also an avid reader and I love to discuss books and draw out my ideas and perceptions from them.
In addition, I have been a homeschool educator for 20 years. I have taught children's art classes privately and through local after school and children's museum programs. I have presented many classes on Renaissance art depicting Greek and Roman mythology and it's influence on the innovations of the time period.
My photography has appeared in Parents Magazine and numerous photography blogs. I enjoy finding connections between things that don't seem connected upon first glance. To do that, I divide things down to their simplest parts and look for similarities. As a result I am able to break down seemingly complicated projects into simple step by step lessons. I also have a great appreciation for irony in art and life and try to infuse humor and silliness in my lessons and in my own work as well.
I have also spent the last school year as a substitute teacher in two of my local school districts for grades K-12.
