Draw and Create a Silly Story - Writing Practice for Beginners *Self-Paced*

Join me in a self-paced class for the beginning writer. Students will have the opportunity to create an amazing story. Utilizing picture cards, learners will develop their writing skills through a short, fun writing and drawing activity.

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will receive a printable document to complete their work.
Grading
Students will have the opportunity to share their completed work in the comments section of the course. They can use the video or file submission feature. Students are given video feedback on their writing upon the completion of their work.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
Beginner Level
In this self-paced class, students will create 6 silly stories. Using picture cards, students will be provided with images to draw cartoon scenarios that will be used to create a story. Students are provided with three cards per story. Cards include a "what", an emotion, and a location. Using these three items, students will write at least two sentences focusing on proper writing conventions (spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation". 

Students will receive a printable document that contains a writing checklist, example, and workspace needed to create their silly stories.

Lesson 1:
Create a Silly Story!
 This lesson guides students on how to draw different cartoon scenarios that are accompanied by short stories. Picture cards include essential parts to form a story (a "what", a "where", and an emotion). Short story writing focuses on the development of simple sentences that contain proper writing conventions (spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation). Students are asked to write a minimum of two sentences per story to practice their writing.

Students will be provided with a printable file that contains all necessary components to complete this activity.
Pre-Requisites
Learners should have a basic understanding that words create sentences.
