LIVE Online Art Class: Draw an Anime Self Portrait!

In this single-session class, students will be introduced to the characteristics of the popular cartooning style called Anime (Manga).

While this class is designed for beginners, I do accept students who have experience drawing anime, and differentiate for them by encouraging them to use their own unique style whenever they would like, while I give the beginners more direct guidance on drawing facial features.

We will break down proportions and discuss the differences in realistic faces and cartoon drawings.

 We will look at and discuss the shapes of faces, eyes, hair, and other facial features, then draw an alter ego or self portrait in anime style! I show a variety of hairstyles as well, and students choose the one they want to draw.

It is important to note that I take all learning styles and needs into account and scaffold the instruction and wait time for students to finish accordingly. As some students finish quickly, they may be directed to take a break or begin a new drawing, so that others who work more slowly are given the time to keep up with artists who work more quickly.

Students will complete (or come close to completing) one self-portrait (or just a portrait!) in anime style.
