In this one-time drawing course, students will learn the basics of drawing a realistic hamster portrait. Students will learn techniques to draw a proportionate hamster portrait (head to toes/full-body) using pencil. Students will also learn basic shading techniques and techniques for adding fur texture. I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding. Students may also interact with each other if they want to share what they have learned during class. Students who enroll in this class should have basic drawing skills, like drawing and manipulating shapes with a pencil. Students do not need previous knowledge of how to draw animals, but should have a passion for drawing! Students who are more advanced in drawing would also do well in this class. If you do not see a scheduled time that works for you, please message me. I am happy to try and accommodate your schedule with mine.
Learning Goals
Students will learn techniques for drawing a proportionate hamster portrait (head to toes/full-body).
Students will learn techniques for drawing with pencil (e.g., shading, adding contrast, etc.).

Please be aware that this course uses materials that may be harmful to your student if used inappropriately. If you think your student may use any class materials inappropriately and/or potentially cause harm, please provide adult supervision for your student.
Supply List
REQUIRED FOR STUDENTS: -Paper (Preferably drawing paper, but if you do not have this, regular paper is fine.) -Pencil -Eraser -Pencil sharpener -Printed hamster reference photo (This is attached to the welcome email upon enrollment. If you are unable to print this, please have it available via an electronic device.) -Blending tool (We will practice blending skills a lot in this class. If you do not have blending stumps, please bring a tissue and/or a Q-Tip. If you are unable to get these supplies, students are fine to use their fingers to blend.) WHAT THE TEACHER WILL BE USING (OPTIONAL): -Drawing paper OR Sketchbook (You can purchase a sketchbook for around $10 on Amazon. Please, no bigger than 9 x 12 inches.) -Wooden pencil -Pencil sharpener -Kneaded eraser (You can purchase a kneaded eraser for around $5 on Amazon.) -Regular everyday eraser -Drawing pencils (You can purchase drawing pencils for around $10 on Amazon.) -Blending stumps (You can purchase blending stumps for around $5 on Amazon.)
