I'm an artist, photographer, and author from East Texas. I love to connect art with everything else in life—math, science, history, and language arts. I've been homeschooling for 20 years and have taught children's art classes privately and through local afterschool programs. My photography has been internationally published. I have written three books, one on photography and two how to draw books for kids available on Amazon. As a home educator with an eclectic view on teaching methods (including classical education, the trivium, Charlotte Mason, the Socratic Method, unschooling, and child-directed learning), I see the power of making connections in everything we do. Art happens to be my favorite tool to use when guiding students in making connections as well.
Homework OfferedStudents may complete their art project on their own if it is not completed during the live class meeting. Students will gain experience sharing the things they found most interesting in the class, sharing what they like most about their artwork with the class, and giving feedback to other students on their artwork as well.
Assessments OfferedStudents will be asked to recall the things they found most interesting in the class, to share their artwork with the class, and to give feedback to other students on their artwork as well.
Students may use whatever supplies they have and are comfortable with. Suggestions will be provided as well as direction on how to use those supplies. Instructor will be using mixed media which will include watercolor pencils, alcohol markers, and gel pens.
