**PLEASE NOTE** This is a SELF-PACED class and is PRE-RECORDED. THIS MEANS STUDENTS WILL WATCH THE PRE-RECORDED VIDEO. There are no live meetings. All interactions between students and the teacher will happen on the class page. This class will be presented via a pre-recorded demonstration drawing and a handout. Students will engage in questions, class discussions on the classroom tab, assignments and be part of an artist critique, which will be guided by the instructor. Why Self-Paced? *MY Self-Paced classes ALWAYS cost less than the live versions of the same class! *Self-Paced classes are an excellent choice for families with busy schedules. *Content is exactly the same as live classes, at a lower fee. *Students can work at an independent pace. *Self-Paced classes are fantastic for international students whose time zone doesn't match the teacher's (US Mountain Time), *Self-Paced classes are a great alternative for students who are uncomfortable with live video chat. Our Self-Paced format will be as follows: Content: Video demonstration of the process will be posted. Videos will vary in length depending on the type of art being presented. Some may be as short as 10 or 15 minutes while others could be ½ hour or more. Student work is expected to take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending upon the student’s preferred pace. Drawing Assignments: Students spend time completing their artwork and submit it via the classroom. Submit Assignment: Students are required to post photos of their completed artwork in the classroom on the designated post. Keep in mind, uploading artwork for the teacher to see is important for assessment and feedback. Detailed information regarding the content of each session can be found in the syllabus. Once all assignments have been submitted, parents may request a letter or number grade if needed. Students may also receive a certificate of completion after parent has completed a class evaluation.

Supply List
An optional handout with a drawing of the umbrella to be printed will be uploaded into the classroom the day class starts. This is to help those who are not yet quite proficient with using a ruler. Demonstration of drawing the umbrella using a ruler will be shown in the instructional video. In addition, materials needed are: Paper (if they are drawing their own umbrella) or the printed handout Pencil and eraser Sharpie or other similar black marker (permanent is best so the black doesn't smear the other colors) Markers, crayons or colored pencils (I will be using Crayola markers).
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
