Class Experience

Everyone should bring two books that they are comfortable reading out loud. This class is geared toward students who are confident reading full sentences up to beginner chapter books.

I will read a book with dramatic expression. Then each student will have a turn! We will all share feedback on how each student can improve their word recognition, expression, projection and dramatic reading. I will be sharing breathing exercises and performance techniques. We will chat about vocabulary and definitions as needed.

At the end of class we will play a few drama games and use our imaginations to create our own characters and a group story!

Learning Goals

Reading with expression, clarity and fluency. Breathing, projection and performance techniques. Vocabulary and word recognition. Dramatic arts.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Prior to going into education, I took a degree in music performance and musical theatre. I later worked as an English, Drama and Music teacher in a number of public and private schools. I love igniting the imagination with character exploration and expressive reading.
