Class Experience

Students will increase their understanding of specific social skills (social behavior mapping, expected and unexpected behaviors, problem sizes, and emotional expression and comprehension to express and understand feelings) and use this understanding in a dramatic play.  
I have been working with kids and adults with high functioning autism (HFASD) for over 10 years, half of this time was in the public school system as a teacher specializing in working with kids with HFASD.  My other experience includes running a consulting business for kids and adults with HFASD.  I have taught this course in a live format; I am excited to bring the course online!  
Social skill homework will be assigned.  This will not require any written work by the student.  Instead, the student will be asked to use the social skill we talked about that day and discuss how they used it.  An example is: The day we talk about expected and unexpected behavior, the student may discuss how later that day they complied with a request the first time it was given and then the response of the person giving the request.  
Everything will be on the computer!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will not provide any official assessment, but I am happy to talk with parents about how their child did in the class and discuss any further opportunities for them.  
5 hours 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
