Join us as we prepare for an Adventure Quest! If you don't see a time that fits your schedule, please send a request for times that work for you! I am often able to accommodate suggestions outside my regularly posted available hours. Inspired by popular dragon series (Dragonology, How to Train your Dragon, and Wings of Fire), this 3 session program will prepare learners for future Dragon Tamers Adventure Quests. During an Adventure Quest, learners are encouraged to take on the role of characters we will create for ourselves in a Story Adventure that we develop and explore together. Together we will be immersed in the magical world of dragons as they uncover information and clues that will bring them one step closer to becoming a full fledged Dragon Tamer. Session 1: The Call to Action. The world is changing, not only for humans, but also for Dragons who have been living in hiding for centuries. You have been invited to join a new group of Dragon Tamers whose mission it is to learn about and protect Dragons. But first, you must know what you are getting into. During this session learners will: ~Learn how to communicate with the characters they meet in the quest through use of their individual Google Doc. ~Discuss dragon characteristics and the seven dragon "classes" or particular groups of Dragons. ~Begin the Adventure during which you choose your dragon egg! Session 2: Earning the Trust of Dragons. Dragon Tamers must know how to earn the trust and friendship of a dragon. During this session, learners will: ~Learn to Identify dragons in each Class ~Learn to decipher the written language of Dragons ~Practice solving riddles Between session creative challenge: The Dragon Egg. The most important role of a Dragon Tamer is the care and nurturing of a dragon. Between sessions 2 and 3 learners are asked to create a piece of artwork the represents the dragon or dragon egg and bring it without them to share at the beginning of session 3. Session 3: Hatching Day! Learners will meet the character they’ve been writing back and forth with and share their creations with her. She will then take them on a guided adventure to meet the 7 Dragon classes and test their knowledge as Hopeful Heroes. Once they have completed the test, they will be ready to go on and adventure with their new dragons! NOTE: Some of the challenges during this session will require the learner to access tabs outside of the zoom meeting in this guided Adventure. This session is most enjoyable when attended on a computer or laptop, as chrome-books, tablets, and mobile devices do not always work well with some of the challenges and puzzles in this adventure. This is the First in the Dragonology Adventure Quest Cycle. Feel Free to check out the other Adventures in this cycle!
