Description
Class Experience
Have a blast building and breeding virtual dragons! Learn about heredity, but instead of breeding pea plants like Gregor Mendel, students complete a simulation via Google Slides to breed dragons and learn how dominant and recessive traits are passed down through multiple generations. The results of certain dragon characteristics resemble Mendel’s few experiments. Students will learn about male and female dragon genotypes, offspring traits, probabilities, and how to use Punnett squares. They...
This class is taught in English.
Using their knowledge of genetics and inherited traits, students will be able to identify potential traits of dragon offspring with Punnett squares.
I have created and taught many classes across many subjects for homeschoolers for 14+ years. I enjoy teaching STEM, history, and cross-curricular classes and have a passion for making classes engaging. I have a bachelor's in Computer Science and a Master's in Education. Before my move to education, I was a software engineer and in my spare time, I Zentanlge and draw mandalas.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class works best if students can copy and paste using their mouse or keyboard.
Students will be provided with a link to a Google Slide where they will complete their simulations.
