Are you looking for a fun and exciting way to get your kids into art? Our class is perfect for Wings of Fire fans who love to draw dragons! Join us for a unique experience that combines art class with a book club! In our class, we will teach your child how to draw complex dragon designs in simple steps. By using lines and shapes, your child will learn to create their own dragon characters inspired by the Wings of Fire book series. They will also be encouraged to share their work and get feedback from the instructor and other learners in the class. Your child will have the opportunity to draw a variety of dragons each week, mixing up the details from the entire series to create hybrid and tribrid dragons/ We will also help them tackle the tricky spots that young artists sometimes find frustrating. Plus, we will discuss how the illustrator incorporates animal biology, anatomy, and habitats into the Wings of Fire dragon designs. We will provide tips on how to draw full body dragons, heads, faces, eyes, expressions, horns, wings, legs, feet, tail, and scales. Using simplified shapes and descriptions of dragon tribes from the Wings of Fire series, your child will follow a directed drawing slideshow and instructor demonstration on how to draw each dragon. Shading techniques will also be presented, and your child is free to use any drawing style or medium they like including digital media. Throughout the class, we will encourage learners to create their own original characters or OC's based on the series. As we draw, we will brainstorm ideas for names, color palettes, and back stories for the characters we create. Plus, we may even play some fun games based on the books if time allows! Please note, this class is a drawing class and we will not be reading any of the books during live class meetings. Your child should have their supplies ready at the beginning of class. Spoilers may occur during class discussions, so keep that in mind! If there is only one learner in a class, the class will still proceed, but it may not run as long as the time indicated. If no learners have signed in by the ten-minute mark, the instructor will exit class and provide a video lesson for students to complete on their own. Finally, don't forget to check back periodically for updates on the upcoming dragons we will be drawing! Students will be directed step by step how to draw each dragon using a slide show and live digital drawing technique. They may use any technique or medium they choose to complete their drawings. So, whether it's traditional or digital, your child is welcome to use any drawing/coloring supplies they have on hand. Join us and let's unleash your child's creativity! UPCOMING DRAGONS.... Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an artist and photographer specializing in fine art, photography, and art education. I am also an avid reader and I love to discuss books and draw out my ideas and perceptions from them. In addition, I have been a homeschool educator for 16 years. I have taught children's art classes privately and through local after school and children's museum programs. Her photography has appeared in Parents Magazine and numerous photography blogs. I enjoy finding connections between things that don't seem connected upon first glance. To do that, I divide things down to their simplest parts and look for similarities. As a result I am able to break down seemingly complicated projects into simple step by step lessons. I also have a great appreciation for irony in art and life and try to infuse humor and silliness in my lessons and in my own work as well.
