US Grade 6 - 9
This is a high energy group that has been meeting together for over three years, building our own "dragon universe", our own battle and game rules, and we create our own campaigns to play together. We use math to design unique dragons and background art and then we use game architecture techniques to build our own adventures that we play out together as a club. We are always building our next group of dragons, frequently with a seasonal theme. Classes during winter will focus on Holiday Themed dragons and we are actively building adventure stories to take these dragons in battle. This club is a great way to see "math in action", learn about game design, learn technical drawing skills, and also meet regularly with like-minded students who share a love of all things dragon! Approximately half of our time is spent designing and creating dragons and beasts for our campaigns, and the other half is spent playing through the quests and adventures we create, as a club.

With degrees in Math, Music and Education, I have been teaching students for over thirty years.
I teach classes that offer learners a chance to experience the creative side of math by putting theory into practice to design things like dragons, anime characters, castles and more. My classes are activity-based and encourage students to learn through hands-on projects that mimic real life math-in-action done by architects, engineers and designers.
