Deal for any of my summer camps including this one - register in any one camp, get any other $5 off! Are you ready to fall down the rabbit hole? This camp will feature drama, visual arts, STEM activities, and games all centred around Alice in Wonderland! This will not be a book club camp and campers will not be expected to do any reading in camp. They do not need to have read the book or seen the movie but should have some familiarity with the story in order to get the most out of the camp....
No homework required, but if students wished to they could read through and rehearse the Alice in Wonderland Readers Theatre script in their own time, in order to prepare for the final performance.
This camp will utilize common craft materials and materials found around the home. These will include a craft styrofoam ball or small wood craft ball, a dowel or chopstick, yarn, string, fabric or felt scraps, liquid glue, scissors, straws, a cardboard box lid or shoebox, a marble, water, lemons, lemon squeezer, baking soda, sugar, spoon, a glass, craft foam, a sponge, beads, pom-poms, a paper towel roll, a paper bowl, markers, two paper plates, coloured construction paper, cardboard, a deck of cards, flour, salt, a bowl, red paint, a paper cup, pipe cleaners, a utensil knife, bread, sandwich-making ingredients from the fridge, a paper fastener, a recycled plastic lid, and cotton balls. Optionally, students could use any craft materials they wish to have. If families do not have any of these materials, they can be purchased at a local discount store, department store, or grocery store. I will be providing a PDF file with the Alice in Wonderland Readers Theatre script.
Campers will be presented with a unique certificate at the end of camp, recognizing the special strengths in each of them.
10 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Scissors and utensil knives will be used. All materials will be safe for this age group but parents could supervise certain activities such as fizzy drink making, sandwich making, and salt dough making to make sure not too much of a mess is made!
We will explore a variety of riddles and optical illusions.
