Basic addition and subtraction skills will be required for this course. Students will learn how to do addition and subtraction using double digit numbers. Though this is a one day class I will be trying to mix up each class so students are welcome to return and take this class multiple times without getting bored. We will use standard math procedures, color sheets, games and any other creative outlet I can find to help make math fun and rewarding. My style for teaching allows students to try problems by themselves, as well as working all together taking turns trying the problems.
Learning Goals
I want students to feel comfortable and confident when they leave each of my classes. My goal is to create an environment that makes them comfortable learning and sharing. I never want a student to feel bad for getting a problem wrong, just understand that it's part of the learning process. If they already knew this material they wouldn't need teachers. It is always ok to get a problem wrong as long as you took the time to try.
