What's included

Homework
1 hour per week. I will ask each student to make a short video to send to me each week so I can help them improve on their communication. Each video needs to be submitted prior to the next class to receive feedback. Students are still encouraged to send a video but will only get feedback if it is submitted on time. All videos can be made independently or with help. There will be video exchanging and messages from student to student in the classroom. This will help with team building aspect and introduce one of the key elements of class, which is peer to peer communication for each student.
Assessment
After each class students will need to submit a video to me for analysis. I will send the student a feedback video with good and constructive feedback. At the end of this session each student has the option of completing a video and sending it to me so I can offer feedback. The goal is to make each student comfortable and confident.

Class Experience

Students, 8-13, will learn public speaking while getting quick and easy tips on practicing tone and proper eye contact. In this four week class there will be a weekly classroom video as well as weekly class discussions between students posted in the classroom board for students to access. I will make exceptions on the age range if the parent would like to put their child in this class.

During this four week session students will also learn about incorporating body language while speaking. This class is for all levels and no previous experience is necessary.

Week 1: Class is going to begin with a short introduction to public speaking skills. This lecture will include suggestions on how to practice your tone and body language.

I will post a video in the classroom for students to use as a reference to complete their first weekly video. I will have various exercises such as what to do if you make a mistake.

Week 2: Students will play an interactive game with each other via video. Each student will be instructed to tell two truths and one lie. Their classmates will have to respond to the videos to answer which are the truths and which is a lie.

I will post critics in the classroom so students can get a proper understanding of what they should be doing to improve their communication. I will encourage each student to interact in the classroom via video post weekly.

Week 3: Students will prepare a short written passage to share with the class. Each student will get feedback from me on what they did well and what they may need to improve on. Students can access videos via the classroom that I will have posted for them to use as a reference.

Week 4: At the end of this session each student has the option of completing a video post and sending it to me so I can offer feedback.

I will share a video on how to get your points across while speaking to an audience. I will also post videos in the class that will model as well as demonstrate examples of effective communication, how to recover and ways to keep the audience engaged.

I will use modeling as well as a lecture format. I will ask each student to make a short video to send to me via the classroom post each week.

Students will be asked to participate in a group discussion with peers weekly via classroom video on the lessons that have been discussed the previous week.
