25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, students will combine journaling and mindfulness (as well some some probable silliness!) as I set a timer for varying lengths of time and they practice writing down their stream of thoughts. The challenge? Don't lift the pen from the paper - keep writing even when you think you don't have anything to write about! I will begin by explaining the concept and giving examples, then students will actively write for the given block of time, which will vary between 2-5 minute intervals. At the end of the writing session, students will be encouraged (but not required) to share their writing aloud. If necessary, we will use breakout rooms to ensure students are able to share their work. Students should be able to confidently spell words on their own without asking for assistance during the exercise.

Teacher expertise and credentials
When I was teaching Early Child Education, I would often use this exercise as both a brain break and a way of assessment on topics. It was challenging for students at first ("I don't know what to write"... "Write THAT!"), but they quickly grew to love it. Their favorite part was always sharing with their peers at the end! It's a fabulous way to practice mindfulness and to just get kids writing.
