Does this ferret's black feet make it a better dancer? Why can't the black-footed ferret and the prairie dog get along? Join me for a one-time class to learn the wild answers to questions like these, while practicing basic drawing skills. We will begin by sketching the basic form of a ferret, using our pencils to create common shapes and lines. During this process, I will discuss simple principles of proportion and perspective to help train learners’ eyes. Once the rough sketch is complete, we will use ink pens to give the semi-realistic drawing a clear and distinct outline. Finally, we will discuss the use of colored pencils to add depth and shading to our drawings. Throughout this drawing course, learners will discover interesting facts about the black-footed ferret with the use of trivia questions and open discussion. This endangered animal is, indeed, a work of art. What would our world be like without them? Though not required, I highly encourage learners to share their art projects within our positive and supportive classroom to build confidence and friendships. This class welcomes artists of various experience levels, so just bring a desire to learn, create and grow. And please refer to the supply list below. I look forward to seeing you in class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I'm Ms. Viv and I love to teach classes that share my passion for art and nature to creative learners. My visual art classes are fun and exciting because we not only learn and practice skills that build artistic ability, but also discover interesting facts about the beautiful world around us.
I have worked as a Pre-K teacher, a second grade teacher's assistant, and currently teach as a volunteer using American Sign Language. Also, it has been a privilege to have watercolor and acrylic artworks sold and published locally. For over 15yrs, I have found much joy from teaching others and seeing the smiles on their faces when they learn and succeed. Albert Einstein once said, "Creativity is intelligence having fun" and I absolutely agree.
Fun Fact: I am a proud plant parent of some 30 plants! You may find some appear in my classroom...
