Description
Class Experience
In this 5-week course, students will learn 3 major addition strategies to help students add fluently. Students will not only be able to understand how to add, but they will also understand why. Students will be able to explain their thinking and how they came to the answer. Each week, the classes will have the "I DO - WE DO - YOU DO" structure. The first class of the week, students will be introduced to the strategies. The second class of the week, students will apply what they have learned...
Students will learn/review place value within 1,000. Students will undertand how to use expanded notation to add. Students will understand how to use a number line to add. Students will understand how to use a Hundreds/Tens/Ones Chart to add with and without regrouping. Students will know how to solve word problems within 1,000.
Students may be provided additional work outside of class time to practice the strategies. It will not be required, but encouraged.
A handout will be posted at least 24 hours in advanced prior to class. Please bring a pencil and eraser. Manipulatives are encouraged, if available.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Exit Tasks at the end of each class.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Google Slides will be viewed through a shared screen.
