This class will survey common and popular literary devices and techniques that add creativity to all types of writing, both creative and technical. Some examples include metaphor, simile, alliteration, rhyme, etc. We will start class by going through a list of 10-15 devices. I will explain each term and give the students an example of each term. I will explain how using figurative language actually helps to explain what the author literally means. After discussing the meanings of each...
A pen and paper might be helpful for students who prefer hand writing to typing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
