Students will learn to count, write numbers and solve simple addition and subtraction problems. This will be accomplished this by choosing a domino, writing the corresponding numbers and simple number sentences by using the domino manipulatives. We will do several problems together and then they will write their own numbers and sentences. Then we will share our number sentences with the class. We will finish class with a game called Race 25. The students will take turns making a number...
Students will use dominos to count numbers 1-10. They will count the dots on the dominos and write the corresponding number form. Students will also learn to use the math vocabulary MORE and LESS to describe their score in relation to others in the class.
I have taught math in public and private school. I have found that using manipulatives such as dominos and playing games such as Race to 25, 50, 100 provide a fun and engaging way to learn math.
Student can practice counting and writing their numbers and continue to play race to 25 with a sibling or family member.
