Description
Class Experience
Students will learn place values, manipulation of decimals using mathematical operations and understand how they convert from fractions.
As my husband and I began the journey of adopting our two children, we soon learned how far behind they were in math. I have been fortunate to be able to assist them in catching up and have learned the value of being their cheerleader when they truly saw no way, they would be able to grasp what they were working on. Mistakes are important in the learning process, especially in math. For a student to be able to track down their mistake and fix it solidifies the neural pathways in their brain to learn the concept. I have taught middle grades math for 3 years now and this is my philosophy in my classroom. Mistakes are opportunities to learn, never a reason to condemn. I would love to be your child's cheerleader as they gain confidence and learn these basic math skills.
Students will be asked to complete work problems not completed in class for additional practice. Homework between classes should take less than 30 minutes.
Teacher will provide all worksheets for the class.
Learners will be assessed based on their participation in class, demonstration of the ability to complete the problems discussed in class and completion of homework. End of section test can be supplied to the parent for assessment upon request.
2 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
