Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Bonjour! My name is Dr. Karen deFur-Maxwell. I was a French teacher for 23 years (some elementary school, but mostly middle and high school) and was an administrator for 6 years. I love teaching and know that students love learning when it is experienced in a supportive, positive environment. I have a Bachelor’s degree in French, with advanced degrees in Elementary Education and English as a Second Language and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I currently teach a methods course, Teaching a World Language, at Quinnipiac University Graduate School.
I live in Connecticut, USA with my Golden Retriever named Molly. I spend as much time as I can with my two daughters and 6 grandchildren. We have fun doing things outside, doing crafts and traveling. I have been fortunate to have traveled extensively and have visited many countries, 5 of 7 continents and most of the 50 United States.
I look forward to sharing my love of learning and the French language with you.
