In this 6- week course, students learn how to build a social enterprise, a company that raises funds to solve a social problem. Students will focus on building a social enterprise that addresses one of the UN SDG Goals.

Class Experience

The instructor created a social enterprise that won the Clinton Global Initiative Award for Best Social Enterprise and gained celebrity support. The instructor is familiar with what it takes to create and run a successful social enterprise.
Students will have homework. Typically homework assigned is an extra hour of classwork; however, the students have a whole week to complete before the next class. Many students are so excited about creating a social enterprise that they may tend to spend as much as 2-3 hrs. It varies depending on the student's interest.

Learners will need the following items for note-taking purposes: 1. Journal or notebook 2. Pen or pencil
The instructor will assess the elevator pitch and social enterprise plan at the end of the course. Students will receive a Social Entrepreneurship Design certificate upon successful completion of the 8 - week course. 
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents, please note that this camp will discuss the United Nations 17 SDGs ( and Topics addressed in an age-appropriate way. 
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses the UN SDGs website, Youtube videos: What is sustainable development?, and Operation Sustainability - a story on the world's most important customer!.
