Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Movie stars, kitchen helpers, astronauts, heroes, and companions - dogs have been a part of history in so many ways. In this 5-day camp version of the Dogs in History, students will learn about amazing dogs in history.

With the help of slideshows, we discuss 5 dogs in history. I encourage all students to participate and answer questions by including multiple choice questions throughout the slideshow. Students will create an addition to their very own Dogs in History Encyclopedia. At the end of the camp, students will have 5 entries to their Encyclopedia and can choose to continue it by joining Dogs in History class. These encyclopedias can be created by printing 5 copies of the Printable Encyclopedia page (found on the classroom page after enrollment) or students can use blank pieces of paper.

Day 1 - Barry - St. Bernard - Search and Rescue
Day 2 - Tree Planting
Day 3- Balto & Togo
Day 4- Whale Detector
Day 5 - Rin Tin Tin

If you have any questions, please send me a message. If you do not see a week that works for you, please send me a message or request a time. Thank you!

Beyond my own knowledge of these famous dogs, other sources are from reputable websites such as Smithsonian and Britannica Encyclopedia. Also, some of these famous dogs/dog jobs have been the subject of many books. For example, there are many books about Greyfriars Bobby.
