Dog Treat Baking Club
Class experience
This is an ongoing course. In each class meeting students will learn how to make a new dog treat. Please note class schedule we meet every other week not every week for this class. This is to allow time for the dogs to eat the previous treats before we make more. Most of these treats are also taught in my one time classes and my flex courses. I have multiple rescue animals, including three dogs. I love to make homemade dog treats for them.
Week 1 unsweetened crushed pineapple oil honey egg flour baking powder baking soda Week 2 peanut butter (no xylitol- it is toxic to dogs) cheerios flour oil egg Week 3 flour low fat shredded cheddar cheese oil milk or can substitute water mixing bowl parchment paper cookie sheet measuring cup Week 4 flour peanut butter eggs pumpkin cinnamon measuring spoon/cup cookie sheet parchment paper mixing bowl rolling pin/cookie cutters are optional Week 5 16 oz can pumpkin (plain) 8 oz plain low-fat yogurt (optional) flour 1/2 cup oatmeal (put through blender prior to class to make an oat flour) 1/4 cup applesauce, unsweetened muffin tin measuring cup/spoons wax paper nonstick cooking spray (unless using nonstick muffin tin) Week 6 banana peanut butter oats applesauce flour cinnamon mixing bowl measuring cup/spoons parchment paper cookie sheet rolling pin/cookie cutters are optional Week 7 6 large (burrito size) flour tortillas unsweetened applesauce molasses cinnamon butter (only a small amount needed) cookie sheet parchment paper measuring cup/spoons mixing bowl Week 8 grated cheddar cheese flour milk (or can substitute for water if preferred) mixing bowl cookie sheet parchment paper measuring cups/spoons Week 9 Flour Eggs (3) peanut butter cupcake tins Cupcake liners (unless using silicone nonstick pans) mixing bowl measuring spoons/cups Week 10 1 1/4 cup cut up cooked chicken (can also used canned chicken if preferred)-- have cooked prior to class if needed 1/2 cup sweet potato (can also substitute for canned, or also pumpkin)-- have cooked prior to class flour 1 cup evaporated milk baking powder eggs cookie sheet parchment paper mixing bowl measuring cup/spoons Week 11 flour baking powder salt cinnamon 3 bananas honey egg unsweetened applesauce milk mixing bowl measuring cup/spoons mini muffin tins Week 12 egg flour rolled oats unsweetened applesauce cookie sheet parchment paper mixing bowl measuring cups Week 13 bananas Low fat plain yogurt or unsweetened applesauce peanut butter (no xylitol- it is toxic to dogs) coconut oil small silicon candy type mold ice cube tray or small bowls for making individual sized servings of icecream mixing bowl Week 14 Oatmeal Peanut butter (no xylitol- it's toxic to dogs) canned pumpkin (only ingredient should be pumpkin) milk cookie sheet mixing bowl Week 15 Flour 2 (4 oz) containers of dog safe baby food (if you are not familiar with what flavors are dog safe, please contact me) eggs donut molds cooking spray if not using a nonstick mold Week 16 flour eggs canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix, only ingredient should be pumpkin) cinnamon baking soda waffle iron Week 17 coconut oil baking powder cinnamon carob powder honey flour banana eggs baking sheet parchment paper Week 18 bananas peanut butter (no xylitol- it is toxic to dogs) carob powder oats cookie sheet parchment paper Week 19 2 (4 oz) jars of baby food flour muffin tins muffin liners if not using a nonstick pan Week 20 flour wholegrain cheerios or rice Krispies peanut butter (no xylitol- it is toxic to dogs) coconut oil carob powder eggs a small microwave safe bowl Week 21 carrots unsweetened applesauce eggs millk flour cinnamon baking powder paper liners if not using nonstick pan muffin tin Week 22 cranberries or blueberries flour coconut oil oats unsweetened shredded coconut peanut butter (no xylitol- it is toxic to dogs) blender cookie sheet
Students will be utilizing the oven, waffle iron, microwave and blender to make these treats. If students are not familiar with the use of these items please assist them during this portion of class. As with all treats, moderation is key. These are not to be fed as part of their daily diet.
