Does your child love the Dogman books? Come join a fun one time class to share about your child's favorite Dogman books, interact with other fans, and even try drawing the beloved character!

US Grade 1 - 3
In this one time class, your child will have fun sharing about his/her favorite Dogman book and interacting with other Dogman fans! We'll kick off our class by sharing about our favorite part in a Dog Man book or your child's favorite Dog Man book. To help your child know what they might want to talk about, I will send out a paper about favorite part prior to the class starting that you may choose to use with your child. Sometimes it can be helpful to have a picture and/or words to help...
Students will make connections to Dogman and their own life. Students will be able to express their opinion about their favorite Dogman book or part in a Dogman book. Students will be able to describe characters found in Dogman books.
As a former teacher and elementary school librarian, there is nothing better than a student excited about reading. I believe finding the right book is crucial for developing life long readers. Cultivating children's interest in characters and topics, helps them find books that are appealing to them and hooks them into reading. I know Dogman books were always flying off the shelves and kids love this series! I can't wait for the newest book to come out in March 2021! In this class, your child will be able to share his/her love of Dogman with others as well as practice literacy skills (like making connections, retelling, etc.) at the same time. I love to share my passion for reading with others and help foster that love of reading in children! This is a great opportunity for your child to work on oral language and public (virtual) speaking skills on a topic which is of high interest to them and those in the class! You'll find with any of my classes, I love to create a fun and positive environment for learning and sharing and my enthusiastic personality always shines through! I look forward to meeting your Dogman fan!
Your child will need: - 1 Dogman handout, provided by teacher (see note below) - pencil - coloring supplies *feel free to bring along your child's favorite Dog Man book (or their collection) to the class NOTE: Teacher will provide: - a handout for students to draw and write about their favorite Dog Man book, or part within a Dog Man book. Please note: I provide various handouts to choose from to differentiate based on your child's own individual's needs. They will be posted no later than 48 hours before the start of the class. Please print just 1 of the choices for your child. I have found having taught the class many times, it is helpful if your child completes before our class. It is an optional activity should you wish to print it for your child and complete. Sometimes rather than having to share on the spot, it is easier to have a paper to show and tell from during our class. It is your choice if you'd like your child to complete it. - additional resources your child may want to explore to continue the Dog Man fun!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As a teacher, librarian, and mom, I always recommend parents before reading material that child chooses. Your child should have read at least 1 Dogman book to participate in this class.
