This class is perfect for children who are in love with the Dog Man and Cat Kid Comic Club series. Just as Li'l Petey and Flippy, teach twenty-one rambunctious, baby frogs I will work with your children as they have fun making their own comic! Each class students will practice the following step-by-step directions as they draw one of the characters from the Dogman series. Then, using the Dog Man character they learned in class, and the template attached students will create their very own mini-comic. Some of the students choose to draw a new comic every week with the new character they learned to draw. Other students are working on an ongoing comic adding new panels each week. Week 1 Lil Petey Week 2 Grandpa Week 3 Beasty Buildings Week 3 Piggy Week 4 Dr. Skum Week 5 Barkey McTree Face Week 6 Crunky Week 7 Bubs Week 8 Muchie Week 9 Dog Man and the Bark Knight Week 10 Commander Cupcake Week 11 Robo Flippy Week 12 Chief and Nurse Lady Week 13 Cat Kid and 80 HD Week 14 Sara and Zuzu Week 15 Dr. Scum and his Robo Shark Duck Week 16 Molly and Mecha Molly Week 17 The Evil Sippy Cups Week 18 The Cone of Destiny Week 19 The Colossal Bot 2000 Week 20 The Fair Fairy Week 21 The Dog Mobile Week 22 Cat Kid on his bike Week 23 George and Harold Week 24 Super Mecha Philly Once we reach the end of this list - we go back to the top and start again - so you can join in at any time. Each student will have an opportunity to share their fun comic strips with the group. There will be lots of time for a fun discussion about the mini-comics. This is a fully interactive class so I work with the students so that we can allow all students to be "un-mute" take turns and be Zoom polite but things sometimes get pretty noisy! No drawing experience is necessary. As this is an ongoing class you can join at any time - come for one class or stay for them all!
Learning Goals
I love the Dogman and Catkid series! These silly stories spark kids' interest as they learn to read challenging words and have fun while they are reading. In class, they eagerly share stories and develop confidence sharing ideas and drawing while having fun. A recipe for success.
