Learners will be informally assessed on their participation in class discussions. This class is a book club so participation is necessary. Formal Assessment Option: Learners who turn in written reading reflections, short stories, and or final research report can receive a Letter Grade and/or Written Report By Request.

Come Join us to discuss the stories of Daring Dogs and Heroic Hounds in the following book.

Before Class: Learners will read assigned pages of the book (see in attachment found in Welcome Letter)
During Class: Teachers and Learners will come prepared to discuss the stories read for the week and share their own stories about dogs.
**Class will start with weekly check-in and Welcome
**Discussion 30-35 minutes
**Class ends with final thoughts and wrap up
After Class: Optional Homework Assignments
+Weekly Reading Reflection - Learners reflect on the stories read that week and the class discussion
+Short Stories about Dogs - Learners write stories (real or fiction) about dogs
+Final Project: Research and Report on Dogs - Learners research a Dog Breed, Famous Dog, Dog Histories, etc. Learners complete a report on their topic.

Parental Guidance
This Book Club cover stories of all kinds of dogs doing Heroic deeds. There are some sections of the book that include dogs in war situations. ** Also, if you have a well-behaved dog (or dogs) at home, they are welcome to join the class ** Single Learner Classes: - Single learner classes will go ahead as scheduled unless learner and family request otherwise. - If the discussion ends early, the class will have extra time to play games and trivia.

This class is all about Dogs! I hope you will join me and read stories about Dogs Daring to be Heroes. 
Dogs come in so many shapes and sizes. They are lovable and loyal. They are wonderful and wise. They bring joy to the lives of dog lovers everywhere. I cannot wait to share these wonderful, exciting and interesting stories with learners.
