Do you love TikTok? Do you love to dance? Learn how to choreograph your own TikTok videos! This on-going class will be taught using a multi-modal approach: we will explore movement sequences with our bodies, research the TikTok visual toolbox and choreograph original dance compilations. No software download is required. We will be learning the TikTok platform through Zoom only. Learners will not be allowed to use TikTok or any other apps or websites on their personal device in this class. Every week our class will breakdown into the following sections: - Check-in: Each learner gets the opportunity to share something special. - TikTok 101: The dos and don’ts around TikTok safety including how to choose a safe user name, how to choose safe filming locations, and how to monitor your time. - Dance Time: We get up and move! - TikTok Session: We will research the platform to find inspiration. - TikTok Dance: Learn a dance from our research. - Theme Session: Decide on ideas for our original TikTok dance. - Choreography Session: Build our dance compilation. Drop-in any week and dance with us, we will choreograph a new dance each week! Here are some of the dances we will be researching each week: Week of February 17th: The Renegade Week of February 24th: The Easiest TikTok you’ll ever learn! Week of March 3rd: TikTok Greatest Hits Week of March 10th: Kid Duets! Week of March 17th:Tap Dance Week of March 24th: The Try Not to Laugh Dance Challenge More dances will be determined at a later date.
Learning Goals
Learners have the opportunity to be creative artists using movement; courageous allies by encouraging their peers; critical thinkers by analyzing the TikTok platform; confident leaders by expressing themselves. Learn to love dance and share your voice!

Parental Guidance
Help your learner participate by setting up their space with an area to move. We will be watching age-appropriate TikTok clips which are listed in sources. No software download is required. We will be using the TikTok platform through Zoom only. Learners will not be allowed to use TikTok or any other apps or websites on their personal device in this class.
We will cover the following topics in our TikTok do’s and don’ts:
- How to choose a safe user name.
- How to choose safe filming locations.
- How to monitor your time.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hotdog has been working with students teaching improv, visual arts, film and so much more for over 11 years. Their background includes behavioral health and social justice education. Hotdog is passionate about teaching art for change but mostly their class is about having fun and creating something unique. When you work with hotdog, the rest of the world will have to ketchup and mustard!
