One-On-One Hindustani (North Indian) Classical Singing 60 Mins
Do, Re, Mi and Me! Music Fundamentals
Class experience
There are two components to music: melody and rhythm. In this beginning music class, we will focus on the scale. The scale gives us the building blocks of melody. It is easy to become acquainted with the notes of the scale. Little by little students will put these notes together to create melodies. This class is designed to get the notes of the scale into the students’ heads. In this fun, multisensory class students will be introduced to the notes of the scale not only in name and pitch but...
Students will learn the names of the scale notes. They will also learn the colors associated with the notes as well as the movements for each. Using props and movement while singing the notes students will get a good beginning grasp on these notes. The students will also learn the spelling of the three most used chords in music and their role in the scale. In short, these activities will get the scale notes into the students' heads and give them vocabulary in the language of music. This course will lay a great foundation for further practice and the introduction of reading music and singing melody.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and have been teaching music for many years! I teach this lesson as an introduction to the scale to all of my new piano students. Scale practice has always been a staple activity in my piano classes that the students have always enjoyed!
