We will be playing a roleplaying game called Dungeons and Dragons (5th Edition) that helps students learn critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, roleplaying, and math skills. Structure: In our first meeting, we will create characters, establish "lines and veils" (a safety tool to make sure everyone is having a fun and enjoyable time), decide on the "vibe" of the game (easygoing vs. hardcore, mystery-focused vs. combat-oriented), and any ask any other questions of each other that arise. It is important that every student attend this initial meeting so we can have an engaging and collaborative process moving forward. In our following meetings, we will play the game of Dungeons and Dragons with a Battle Royale twist (very much like Fortnite, Apex Legends, or Call of Duty: Warzone). We will play on Roll20.net so students can see a visual of their characters, the island, and their monstrous foes. As the teacher, I will function as the Game Master. I will provide the challenges and twists as students move their characters through the wacky Island of the Four Knights as they try to win the Grand Prize. Many GMs have a particular style of how they do things but I like to stay fluid in my approach because every party of adventurers are different. As a group, we'll be in constant communication for the entire hour and a half we're in the game. As a general rule, it would be fantastic if your student has played DnD before but it is not a prerequisite. I have taught many folks, adult and children alike, this wondrous game and I'd be delighted to teach yours as well.
Learning Goals
Students will learn critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, roleplaying, and math skills.

Parental Guidance
Please be aware that this particular game of Dungeons and Dragons that I've imagined can have fantasy combat descriptions and death. We will decide how much description the students would prefer in the first session when we establish our lines and veils. You, as the guardian, can always include your own lines and veils and I'll gladly abide by them.
