Students may need additional time outside of class to complete assignments. Fridays are independent working days and students will have notebook pages to complete and/or a practice assessment to check growth. Note: This class is rigorous and will cover a lot in 2 weeks. Attentiveness and effort will be expected to succeed and master the vocabulary.
All materials are digital. We will do a lab activity and I will provide the list of materials. Students will need gumdrops (or any multi-color candy that we will be able to stick something through it) (beads will also work) Lots of one of the following - toothpicks, pipe cleaners, straws, wire, wooden dowels (pick the item that goes best with the candy you selected - we will use this to create our model. **please reach out if you cannot get these and I will give you some non-edible alternatives.
Each student will get a number grade for their Friday assignments and verbal/written feedback in their digital portfolios.
4 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
All materials will be provided. If students would like to participate in lab demonstrations at home, they will know at least 1 week ahead of time about the lab. Otherwise, students can just observe. Kahoot - Students will use this to play review games or for quizzes. Students do not need to make an account. Personal information will not be shared with me or others. They can use their real names to join or the random name generator. Google Docs - Students will need a gmail account to access these documents. We will use them with guided notes, hyper link docs where students can interact and create a group project, and occasionally an assignment list. Google Forms - Students will need a gmail account to access these documents. We will use them with guided notes, hyper link docs where students can interact and create a group project, and occasionally an assignment list. We will also use these for the occasional closing quiz for a class. If we run out of time in class, I will share them in the classroom for students to test their knowledge. Google Slides - Students will need a gmail account to access these documents. The digital portfolio they will complete will be in this format. Youtube - Students do not need an account for this source. I will screenshare videos that I use from Youtube. All videos provided will be educational and will be a direct correlation to what we are learning in class.
