Montessori English Language: Phonics, Reading & Words is a self-paced will grow learners early literacy skills through our Montessori principles. Our course equips students with the tools and skills to recognize letters and progress to reading simple words and sentences. We are proud to be the first and only accredited Montessori school on the Outschool platform, featuring certified teachers who bring their expertise from our brick-and-mortar school located in Ontario, Canada. In this comprehensive and interactive course, you will explore the Montessori approach to reading, focusing on critical foundational skills. Topics include letter formation, developing a pincer grip for handwriting, and mastering phonics. You will learn how to introduce and practice reading consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words using picture aids and gradually move towards reading without visual supports. The course also covers strategies for memorizing sight words, reading short sentences, and exploring words and letters in a meaningful context. The course is thoughtfully structured into weekly segments, each targeting specific learning outcomes. Each segment features carefully crafted video content that starts with an explanation of the activity's purpose, followed by a detailed list of materials needed. You will receive step-by-step guidance on how to prepare and present the activity, ensuring a smooth and effective learning experience. Additionally, some videos are paired with printable resources to complement the Montessori materials and provide versatile teaching options. Throughout the course, presenter tips are included to offer valuable insights and practical suggestions for enhancing the effectiveness of each activity. Our videos demonstrate how to create Montessori materials using common supplies, eliminating the need to purchase additional resources. Students are highly encouraged to actively participate by reviewing the class content and applying Montessori methods at home, fostering a collaborative and hands-on learning experience that deepens understanding and engagement. Our teaching style is designed to be fun, engaging, and productive. The self-paced format allows you to learn at your own convenience, enabling you to integrate these activities seamlessly into your daily routines. The videos and resources are crafted to ensure that you feel confident and equipped to support your child's reading development. Each activity is designed to be interactive and enjoyable, making learning a positive and rewarding experience. Although the course is self-paced, you are not alone in this journey. Learners have the opportunity to book individual meetings with the teacher to ask questions, seek personalized guidance, or receive feedback. This additional support ensures that you have access to expert advice and assistance whenever needed, allowing you to effectively implement Montessori principles and activities in your home. Through this course, children will be well-prepared to develop early reading skills with the Montessori approach, making the process of learning to read both enjoyable and educational. Handwriting/Print

Lesson 4:
Beginning, Middle, End Sounds
Children explore phonemic awareness by identifying and matching sounds in words. This activity enhances listening skills and lays the groundwork for reading and writing by helping children understand how sounds form words.

Parental Guidance
Parental guidance and support may sometimes be required to supervise young learners. We may need help using various stationary items (i.e., scissors, knife, stapler etc.), or preparing materials before class.

We recommend completing the Learner Resources module before starting any of the self-paced courses for the best learning experience.

Materials and/or printables are listed with each corresponding video. Activities will typically require commonly found household items or stationary such as: pencil, eraser, highlighter, scissors, stapler, glue etc.
