Students will be exposed to Opinion writing pieces, Informational/Explanatory writing and Narrative writing pieces. Students will focus on a topic, respond to questions and suggestions, and add details to strengthen their writing as needed.

Class Experience
What will be taught? *Opinion pieces in which students will introduce a topic or name a book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion, and provide some sense of closure. *Informative/explanatory texts in which students name a topic, supply some facts about the topic, and provide some sense of closure. *Narratives in which students recount two or more appropriately sequenced events, include some details regarding what happened, use temporal words to signal...
Students will improve their understanding of the six traits of writing: Voice, Ideas, Presentation, Conventions, Organization, Word Choice, and Sentence Fluency.
Homework is not required, but I highly recommend practicing the skills outside of class. There will be worksheets and suggestions for practice throughout this course.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
