A math teacher once told me, "Math is an ever-changing monster; once you think you mastered it, it transforms into something else." This quote has never been so accurate than with new curriculums that teach multiple methods to solve similar problems. Once you master a strategy, you must learn a new one, and it becomes a vicious cycle. Students in this class will learn how to divide using repeated subtraction. They will be expected to listen to instructions, follow steps and routines, and practice throughout the course. Class time will be as follows: 10 minutes as an entire group for direct instruction on the method, 5 minutes in groups with peers and teacher, 15 minutes independent practice, and 5 minutes wrap up. By the end of this class, students will be able to divide using repeated subtraction.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to divide using repeated subtraction.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am offering this class because math is one of my favorite subjects, and division has been a difficult topic for some learners, and they can always learn a new strategy to help. I have taught this strategy to a New York City general education 4th-grade class, a small group of learners, and one on one tutoring.
I look forward to teaching new students, sharing this strategy, and more!
