Beginner Level
This class will be taught in 90-95% Spanish to create an immersive atmosphere. I will be using many language learning techniques including, but not limited to: visuals, gestures, storytelling (TPRS), and prior knowledge with English concepts. Students will be expected to speak in Spanish. However, the best language approach will be using some English at times to communicate. We will go over sentences and questions to help facilitate that communication. Daily Class Structure: *Greetings/ Calendar (5 min) *Phonics Focus (5 min) *Storytelling, Reading (15 min) *Game/ Activity (10 min) We will be creating a notebook for this class as writing and drawing helps solidify concepts for any learned topic. Students are expected to have all the materials in the learner resource section ready for each class.

I had the privilege of learning Spanish mostly through self-study and immersion in Nicaragua. We are a bilingual family with family still living in Nicaragua, so I use Spanish in my personal life on a regular basis.
Because I am not a native speaker, I understand the obstacles and strategies that second language learners face. I strive to use techniques I used in learning Spanish in my classes but in a kid-friendly way.
